Working every day with construction firms gave BOKA Powell a solid foundation when planning the North Texas home of Brasfield & Gorrie, a Birmingham-based general contractor. Our workplace design team collaborated closely with Brasfield & Gorrie’s local executives and staff to design a state-of-the-art bid room for pre-construction staff and subcontractor meetings prior to issuing bid packages. BOKA Powell also integrated large-format graphics along glass-front perimeter offices to celebrate past projects and allow natural light to penetrate to the office core. Open ceilings highlight building systems and structure, while the addition of wood accents softens and warms the feeling of the space. Brasfield & Gorrie has a young, vibrant culture, and a special focus of the project was the large break room and lounge space, which includes a beer refrigerator, ping pong and pool table, as well as a ceiling-mounted televisions for viewing sporting events. Creative touches include a wide flange beam-shaped reception desk, PPE storage and boot bench in the lobby, a welded rebar light fixture in the main conference room, and hot rolled steel accents throughout.
