National City, California/61 Residential Units
Revolution Centro is the first of a two-phase urban living development in National City, just south of San Diego, California. Centro is a four-story, 61-unit residential development that is part of a master-planned, transit-oriented community at the center of the city. Emphasis is placed on light and space, key features the Australian development team sought to impart from similar projects in the Southern Hemisphere. The public lobby space includes a small market and cafe for residents and commuters. A number of units feature direct access from the street. Centro forms one side of a new, pedestrian-scaled avenue that will line both phases. Seventy two structured parking spaces support a public amenity deck, including a pool and fitness facility. The building’s skin consists of stucco, wood cladding and stone.
As a second phase, the Revolution R2 condo tower, completed through construction documents, was designed to rise 20 stories above the surrounding development. The modern design and proximity to multi-modal transportation is tailored to appeal to young professionals, while its flexibility and generous unit planning are attractive to families.
