BOKA Powell was awarded the design of the Texas Tech University Honors College in 2009 following interviews with a number of national design firms. The Honors College is one of the premier Honors Colleges in the United States and is dedicated to creating a unique living-learning environment for its students, and will assist in the establishment of Texas Tech as a Tier 1 Status school. Designed in the Spanish Renaissance style of the campus, the new Honors College will utilize a modern interpretation of the traditional housing model by linking the living-learning communities vertically, thus enlivening the common outdoor spaces. The facility will include a 450-bed residence hall with dining, hospitality, and classroom components, which will include a library, fitness center, commuter lounge, locker facility, media center, great hall and classrooms. Also included are renovations to the existing Doak Hall, which will be retrofitted to accommodate Honors College Dean’s offices, conference and seminar rooms and other office space.
