Lubbock, Texas/178,000 square feet
In response to significant increases in enrollment at the University, BOKA Powell designed a new $45 million, 178,000-square-foot LEED-certified residence hall. Constructed as part of a design-build team with Austin Commercial, and designed to harmonize with the unique Spanish Renaissance architectural style of Texas Tech, the new facilities provide housing for 516 students. Talkington Hall features private bedrooms, shared living areas, ceiling fans, microwave ovens, refrigerators, and ethernet connections in each room, among other unique amenities. In addition to the residence hall, a two-story 22,000-square foot dining hall offers convenient dining services for students and staff. Outdoor amenities include three exterior courtyards and new parking lots to accommodate the ever-growing number of enrolled students. Construction was completed for the fall 2012 semester.
