140,550 GSF/Arlington, Texas
In partnership with the University of Texas at Arlington and UT OFPC, BOKA Powell and general contractor Hill & Wilkinson completed West Hall, the first of a two-phase student housing development on the west side of the UT Arlington campus. The project is a true living-learning community, incorporating classrooms and collaborative study environments within a residential setting. The four-story building offers 259 two-bed units, and 16 single-bed units for a total of 534 beds in 140,550 GSF. A first floor lounge and game room welcome students into the building. Administrative functions and a corridor separate the public space from a large classroom. At the center of the each floor, a large, naturally-lit social space with a kitchen offers opportunities for gathering. Quiet study rooms are also provided within each wing on each floor. The project was completed two months ahead of schedule, and welcomed its first residents in August 2018. As of the fall of 2018, the West Campus development also included a dining hall and parking garage. The master plan, developed by BOKA Powell, includes a second phase of student housing.
