Contractor McCarthy Building Cos. has been hired to build Southwest Airlines huge headquarters expansion at Dallas’ Love Field.

The airline is building a more than $150 million complex west of Denton Drive that will include a new flight training center and offices.

McCarthy said the complex will include a 414,000 square-foot office building and an attached 367,000-square-foot flight training center, which will house 18 flight simulator bays. There will also be a 1,900 car parking garage.

And pedestrian bridges will connect the complex to Southwest’s main headquarters building across Denton Drive.

“Due to our experience in building cutting edge corporate headquarters and training centers for top companies, as well as many airport projects, we know how to approach this project to get it done on time and within budget,” Ray Sedey, McCarthy’s Texas region president, said in a statement.

BOKA Powell is the architect for the Southwest expansion.

Construction starts next month and will be finished in early 2018.

McCarthy has a track record of 40 airport projects including work at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
