James Hale

Associate
Project Designer

James Hale joined BOKA Powell in 2014. As project designer, he works on all architectural stages, from initial concept design through construction documentation. He is responsible for translating programmatic requirements into a functional design that draws on the project’s context, culture, demographics, and best practices. Every project he works on communicates his creativity and passion for design. James attributes his design aesthetic to his extensive travels and his love of the outdoors. He has studied iconic buildings and architectural landmarks around the world, having explored Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, and South America. He has worked in western Europe and Africa, and in 2013, he helped found ARRIVE in Kenya, a non-profit benefiting impoverished children. James believes that these experiences have broadened his perspective and strengthened his approach to the profession. His overarching goal is to help better the built environment through design, philanthropy, and leadership.
