"New Den-Cities Design Competition - Hudson Forest"

New York, New York

The Hudson Forest is a mixed-use development that focuses on creating new typologies that bridge the gap between nature and the built environment. The concept was designed to emulate the natural layering of a forest, with the more public program weaving through the understory and the residences branching out of the emergent layer. In a dense city where the occupants are typically far away from nature, this design breaks away from the urban fabric to create its own ecosystem.

With the world being turned upside down from the pandemic, it was particularly people in dense areas like New York City that got hit the hardest. One of the top issues from people being quarantined in a dense area, is their lack of access to natural air and nature. By analyzing our current climate in dense environments, we have tailored solutions that will better equip us for the future.
